Madison Metropolitan School District Self Service

Welcome to MMSD's Munis Employee Self-Service portal. Munis Employee Self Service (ESS) is a web-based application that allows our employees to privately access select personal and payroll information. Some features and information available through ESS:

Personal Information:
  • view and update your address, personal and work phone numbers
  • view and update your emergency contact information
  • view DPI licenses we have on file for you

Pay and Tax Information:
  • view and print direct deposit information
  • view year-to-date gross earnings
  • view and print W-2 information
  • view and update W-4 withholding information
  • use the paycheck simulator utility

Time Off Information:
  • view and print a history of used and accrued leave (up to the last pay period)
Benefits Self Service is administered separately by The Standard. If you have questions about your benefits self-service account, contact the Benefits Helpdesk at benefits@madison.k12.wi.us.

First-Time Users:

Click Log In at the top right corner of this screen.
  • default username: your "b" number
  • default password: last 4 digits of your social security number

To keep your data secure, you will be immediately prompted to change your password and provide a password hint before you can view any of your information. Provide a hint that allows you to easily remember your password. Your new password must meet the following criteria:
  • minimum of 8 characters
  • contains at least 1 upper case letter and at least 1 lower case letter
  • contains at least 1 special character

Login Support:

Clicking Log In at the top right corner of this screen will take you to the Login screen.

If you have forgotten your password, we ask you to follow the steps below, so all communication is sent directly for your email. This is the most secure way to reset your password.
  • Click the Forgot Your Password? link on the Login screen.
  • Enter your user name and click the Retrieve Hint button.
  • ESS will email you the hint you entered when you created your password. If the hint helps you remember your password, you can log in as normal.
  • The email also contains a link to have a temporary password emailed to you, if your hint does not help you remember your password.
  • If you request a temporary password, it will be sent to your MMSD email address.

If you make 6 incorrect attempts to log in, your account will be locked to keep your information secure. If your account is locked, contact the HR Payroll Division at payroll@madison.k12.wi.us..

You will be required to change your password every 6 months.

All information contained in this site is considered private and confidential. It is your responsibility to keep your password protected to prevent unauthorized viewing of your information. Always remember to click Log Out at the top of screen after each use.
